It said "Competition Mode" just as I started hard. It was the first time I had seen it too coz normally it would only say "Active Hadling on" or "off". It did the same thing too last night when a green Bullitt Mustang decided to take me on from a red light.

Yes. Make sure you are stopped and hold down the button for 5 seconds. Should click into competition mode and show that on the DIC.
btw, I've never had it go into CM by itself by stomping on it. When I do that, in regular mode, it bogs and says 'traction sys active' or something like that.

i have a 99 hardtop and cant seem to get it in competition mode.
are the hardtops able to do this?

Mine did, AZ. Everytime I stomp on the gas at launch, I have "Competition Mode" flash on the DIC. Next will be "Active Handling ON." I thought this was the only way I could get competition mode out of the car - by mashing on the gas! I did not even know there was a competition mode before until i started hard. Now I found out that by pressing the AH button for 5 sec. does the trick. Neat trick!
