Sleeving an LS1 block
Is there any alternative to the darton wet sleeve setup? Or is that the only way to go. I only want to bore it .070 over stock (rules restricted class)

While an LS-1 can be over bored, .25 mm is all that is recommended (approx .10 inch), you won't get anywhere near .70 before you go thru the liner.
Talk to both MTI racing shops, the one in Atlanta and the one in Houston, both shops done sleeves on the LS-xx blocks.

Might consider a larger block.
the LS1 block had some minor oiling and cooling issues that were sorted out in the LS6 and LS2 blocks.

the older LS1, not an LS6? Many of the f-body ppl call the blocks LS1, even though they are LS6s.
Which sanctioning body?

if you can run an LS6 and can get one, do it. The oiling and cooling issues around the #7 & #8 cylinders in the block are worth it. Espcilly if your are going to boar out the block
Good Luck on your project

If you are going with a sleeved process use ONLY Darton Sleeves. They have had huge success in Drag racing and if they are done by a Darton approved engineering shop you will have a block stronger than any bored out block. Good Luck!
