Default brake pads

I've got new rotors on the way, and I need pads. I've done a search, and it is confusing. I'd like to get ceramics, but the feedback on them varies. What do you guys think, since I don't track the car, I just try to keep up with everyone on the cruises that I can get to. Maybe that is the same as tracking? Anyway, what is recommended, and where is the best place to buy them. Thanks.

Reybestos Power Stop Semi-metallics.......you can order them online - awesome brake pads and not expensive......I'd stay away from ceramics - one hard stop and they tend to fade out

Ceramics work better the hotter they get. Unless you are racing around a track or drive very aggessively, they are probably not what you want. Semi-metallics do a good job, but squeal at times. Check out TIRERACK.COM. Ive heard good things about Hawk street composite brake pads. Does any forum member have any experience with these pads?

It really depends on your application / use. I got the GM ceramic pads when I first got the car because the stock pads were spewing brake dust all over the chrome wheels. They're still going strong and I've had no issues with fade, etc., even with some aggressive driving. That said, if I started to track the car or step up my driving habits, I'd either go back to the stock Z06 pads or get the ones Deb recommended in this thread. Several NE members track their cars and could probably give you some great recommendations.

I love my GM ceramic pads! No squeal and very little dust.
I took the originals off at 28,000 miles. Got tired of all the black dust and constant squealing.
However, I do not race or autocross the car. I've never had a problem getting her stopped.

ceramics work less the hotter they get. Ceramics would be really bad for road racing applications.

If you are not a hard driver and want less dust then the ceramics would be fine for everyday use.

The best bet is Z06 pads for someone that is somewhat aggressive, but not going to the track. Z06 pads are about equal to the Hawk HPS.

If you are doing track applications then hawk HP+ pads would be a good choice for intermediate and Wilwood H pads for more advanced. I have road raced my vette for 3+ years now and tried many different combinations so if you have questions feel free to PM me.
