The lower the car is to the ground the more important it is to mount a RD as high as possible. There is no metalized film embedded in the windshield of a Corvette that would block radar signals as is the case with some cars.
A RD that is looking for GPS satellites, such as the Escort 9500i, should also be mounted as far forward as possible. A suction-cup mount on the windshield takes care of this automatically but they are not very reliable. A well-forward mechanical mount can result in instability due to the effects of cantilevering. But even with a hefty detector like the 9600i this instability can be resolved by using appropriate materials and design techniques.
This location works great..It's high so the detector works best and concealed from the outside, Plus nobody will see it unless they are in the car!
This is how my V1 is mounted, except on the driver's side. Can't be seening from outside of the car from either back approach or from the front. It does work very well through the windshield tint.
Very nice Looks Great
I have a mirror mount with my V1 and this also works really good.
The mount is from great lakes trophy and the connection is to the mirror connector using a cable from invisicord.com
Not a good picture but take a look savage1
I mount mine similarly and like it because it can "see" below the tint bar and also "see" out the rear hatch glass. From the front, unless someone is specifically looking for the detector, the detector merges with the mirror and isn't readily noticed.
I pick up the signals from the rear with plenty of time to spare. Would probably work a smige better if a little higher. This location works best for me for quick removal purposes also.

As long as it works for you thats what counts! I personally never remove my detector so I wanted a more permanent spot
Happy T-Day!
