ques about changing trans fluid???
I would like to change my transmission fluid and im not shore how to do it.Its an 01 6-speed with 44500 miles on it.Probabley has never been changed.Anyone know how to do it and whats the best fluid to use for a 6-speed.Thanks.Dan

you are going to get a few different answers to this. You can use royal purple syncro, amsoil, mobil 1.Some guys that are running the amsoil and mobil 1 also mix GM posi additive. Not saying one is better the other, its just which one works better for your needs. I personally use the amsoil and have had no problems

It is really a simple process. Drain plug is on the bottom of the transmission. Fill plug is one of the sensors on the side. I use Mobil 1 synthetic ATF and am very happy with the results. I have not experienced any overheating on the track and the tranny shifts smoothly. The toughest part is getting the new fluid back in. I bought one of the small pumps that screws into the top of the quart plastic bottle the fluid comes in. They are available at the parts store for about $5.00 and come with a rubber hose that you can snake in the fill plug easily.
