I have often wondered why local shops won't flush the trans fluid in C-5's the stealer wants an arm.
i heard that if it sometimes too dirty that you shoukldnt change it?!?
can someone ellaborate that one?
thanks everyone, im not one of them but just want to know why
Old wives tale perpetuated by people that don’t know what the hell they’re talking about. Of course if there is excess metal and friction material in the fluid a rebuild may not be far in the future.
I brought my own fluid to my dealer. while I stood under the car and watched they flshed it completely( I believe I had to bring 3 quarts more than the trani's capacity in order to "prime" the machine). They chared me $65 plus tax.

A complete flush for a DYIer takes 3 gallons, and you can safely pump out 1 gal at a time (don't let the pump suck ANY air!) at the cooler line connection & use a fluid pump to pump a gal back into the pan via the return line. You do need to people to do this, one to watch & direct the cooler feed into a gal jug & the other person to shut it off just as it gets near full. Then pump a gal back into the trans via the cooler return line. If you only start it for the few seconds to get the gal out at a time (any more & the pump will suck air & get damaged) each cycle, the new fuild & the old fluid don't mix hardley at all & by the time youve put 3 gal through you have completely changed the A4 fluid. I would personally recomend that you bring it to a good shop that can do it w/a flush machine to make sure you make no mistakes.

I noticed that you pulled up a few of this guys threads and posted this in them. I also noticed that you are brand new to the forum....May 2008.
Did you track this guy down to the forum, or is it just a 'happy' coincidence?
