A wierd thing happened in our 2000 Vert. Afer backing the car out the garage for a quick bath, the doors failed to unlock. Had to put the key back in the ignition and turn to Accessort to press the unlock button. Didn't think too much of it until my wife pulled the Vert into the garage after her bath and it happened again. The auto-unlock feature never failed before and we didn't do anything different than usual. All I can think of is faulty computer module = $$$$. Did this happen to anyone else?
It has happened to me also I have an 02 ZO6 and it also happened to my 98 C5. You get so good at turning and removing the key that you fool the computer in thinking the key is still in the ignition. If you allow the engine to shutdown and remove the key when the ignition key is truly OFF, will prevent this issue.
Next time it happens, retrace your steps and see if you were too quick on the width draw!!
This has happened on my 2000 as well, taking the time to pull the key out seems to help.
That and I have noticed in cold weather the auto unlock, wether it be by key fob or ignition unlock seems slow on the drivers side.
A little bit of silicone lube on the mechanisims seems to cure the problem in the cold weather.
Thanks folks. I'll be sure to "take my time" getting out next time and see what happens. It was just funny that it happened the same day to both my wife and I.
I turned off the autolock feature as soon as I bought the car. I feel that it has to wear out the locks sooner.
To avoid wear I disabled the automatic "unlock" feature only. I kept the automatic "lock". I manually lock the door after I get in the car, but in case I forget to lock, I like the security of having the car do it for me.
Around Washington you want the doors LOCKED until you want to unlock them

First thing I did after adjusting the seats and mirrors was to go to options and set the unlock function to OFF. With all the carjacking around here I decide when to unlock the doors and I am not to feeble to use the lock button on the doors when I need to. If I was in Iowa I might set it differently. BIGHANK
This just happened to me about a week ago. The key detector got stuck in the tumbler. A quick squirt of silicone in the tumbler fixed the problem for me.
