Default Thinking of doing a stroker

I just did the h/c install on my car. I really want more power and I am now thinking of building the bottom end and doing it right. It has been told that you should only stroke the LS1 block, the liners are too thin to bore so you should stick with 383 max. I like that you can do a 402 with the LS2 block, so my big question is this..... can I switch my new cam, heads, FAST intake, etc over to the LS2 block and drop it in my 2004? Anything else needed to drop in a built LS2 short block?

Yes, you can reuse your heads and intake, but the 3.90 heads might not be ideal for the 4.00 bore of the 402. What power level are you looking at and what kind of budget? Usually, I say to go 402 (even though I have a 383), but it will really depend on your needs. My 383 was a huge improvement over my head/cam set-up because of the added torque...

Remember that for an LS2 swap, you need to relocate the LS1 knock sensors to the side of the block and use an extension harness for the cam sensor...since it moves from the back of the block up to the front timing cover. Make sure you have a LS2 timing gear for the sensor pickup.

I have the TEA Stage II heads, they flow pretty big. I have an A4 and right now I am making 415 rwhp but the torque is only 380 and I think stroking the motor would give me the extra torque I am lacking. I figure if I a going to the trouble of pulling the block it would make sense to get as much as I can. If I am limited by the LS1 the LS2 just seemed to make more sense.

FYI, there are now more options than an LS2 402 that are similarly priced with the L92 block. (418 or 427 if you don't plan on using power adders)

Whatever route you go, it will be awesome.

Really? Now you are talking, 427 sounds insane. Where can I get more info?
