Default Mystery Leak

I made a previous post where I thought I might have a Steering Rack leak. The reason I thought that is because I have a white tile floor that I park on and every morning for the past few weeks there is about a 2"-3" diameter spot on the floor. It is the color of motor oil, but sometimes sticky.

First I took the car to the neighborhood oil-change shop and we looked under the car in the pit to see if there were any pan/seal leaks, etc. and found nothing (did not see any steering leaks either). It was consistent in that every morning there would be another spot forward and left of the engine, but it always occured overnight.

I finally took it to the Dealership yesterday and they said they could see no leaks from the engine or steering; however, they said they did see some water leaking from the weep-hole on the water pump and that they are going to replace it under my GMPP (at 34,000 miles).

The question is, "Could the water pump leak an oily substance toward the front left of the engine"?

Could be coolant that has dripped. Perhaps it got thicker when the moisture in it started to evaporate. Should be orange though.

We did a complete radiator flush last January and replaced with distilled water and Lime Green coolant that was recommended for the Corvette - so unless it has changed color...?

I had a very slight leak such as yours. Mine leak was also water and I can only assume that it looked like oil because of dripping onto other portions of the car/motor and picking up color for oil "mist" on those parts. Mine was from a loosening hose clamp on the lower radiator hose. The oil and muck was from accumulated "stuff" (a technical term) and other road debris.
