Default Stock vs high flow cats

Is there a significant difference between the two (currently running borla cat back with WCC X pipe) There's a guy locally selling a pair for $50. Does this sound like a good investment?

50 dollars is a great deal for high flow cats. Sounds almost too good to be true ask him who makes them and get some more info on them if possible. There is little difference between no cats and high flow cats. But there is a significant difference between high flow and stock cats.

You should just consider getting LT's with an x-pipe and just weld those cats to it

LTs aren't in the budget at the moment.

When I first installed my LTs, I ran them through the stock cats. Later I installed Hi-Flow metal matrix cats - what difference. I think you will notice a change even without the LTs.

Make sure the cats are in good shape - the ceramic media Hi-flow cats can break and rattle. I don't think the metal matrix cats have any problems but any catalytic converter can be overheated and ruined. You will know soon enough after the install and the codes start popping.

For $50 I would go for it!

Now I want some. I have a 97 vette and i can't remember if i have 2.5" piping. What do you guys reccomend for a swap at a reasonable price (remember no headers yet so I don't need the expensive random tech cats)
