Default antenna motor

I replaced the antenna, but it still will not retract all the way. The plastic gear strip is much shorter on the old antenna, so I'm certain a piece of it is in the motor. I tried hanging the motor inverted out of the tail light hole and running it hopeing it would eject the piece...no luck. It got late so I put it all back together.

If I totally remove the motor, is there some sort of access to the inside, and does that rubber cover get destroyed in the process of removal?

I removed the cover to the antennae casing by drilling out the Plastic rivets.

Use a big bit and take only the head of the rivet off.
Pry open the cover
When you take out the inner drum be careful not to loose spacers/washers and note where there are.

You can drill small pilot hole for small screws to hold the cover back on.

Never unplugged motor just took out rear rightmost tail light and unscrewed all nuts holding motor in. Use a SMALL drill FIRST so you dont drill out too much plastic. Then remove the cover, take out the broken plastic ribbon piece and relubricate the gears with white lithium grease before reassembing. Use small self taping screws to replace the rivits after drilliing undersize holes in the base before reassembling. Go to ANTENNAMASTSRUS.COM for generic instructions or call Chuck at their number in Wisconsin for verbal advice. Took me about 3 hours to do the whole job.
PS the antenna motor is NOT THE GM DELCO ONE. It is an HARADA or something like that. Mine took a few cycles to retract all the way but works fine now. BIGHANK
