Default Tires - 270/40-17 front okay

One last time, before I pull the trigger in the next few days. I'm going to Z06 Chrome reproductions in Z06 size. Planning to put on 275/40 - 17 front and 295/35 - 18 rear. Either Michelin Pilot sport or Yokohama AVS.

Looking for any last minute advice on my choices. Specifically, fit on the front (I am not lowered).

One more tire to consider - the BFG KD (not KDW OR KDWS)

Any thoughts

Okay, I promise (moderators) this will be my last attempt to get input. I plan to place my order for wheels & tires tomorrow (Friday).

Hey Jim, I think we talked about my setup, which is the 275's on the front with the Yoko's, but my car is lowered. The Yoko's run a little wider than most other tire brands. I love them.

I would get the KD's as the side wall strength in the Michelin's isn't the greatest. Decent tire though for the average ride.

I have 285s on the front. Michelin Sports. Not lowered and no problems. The wheels are CCWs. See sig.

Thanks for all the help. Needless to say, I got different advice- which is normal, so I did not take some of your advice. But really appreciate the responses. Wound up ordering Michelins for a variety of reasons (partly availability).

Troy - you'll be happy to know on the wheels and tires I'm supporting two Forum Vendors. Thanks for your input.

Hey Ken. Getting Z06 Reproductions in Z06 size (From COH), and Michelin Pilot Sports - 275/40 - 17 front and 295/35 - 18 rear. Hope to have them on by next weekend.

Need to sea you some time. You going to Westheimer/Post Oak soon? I'll go if there is a good group. Went to the car show today - JW's car looks good, anxious to hear more about his head/cam pkg.

Those sizes should be fine. The fronts will be .02" smaller and 1.18" wider than stock so no big deal. The rears will be .53" smaller and .79" wider than stock so again, no big deal. However, bear in mind that you will be effectively lowering the rear without lowering the front. If you want to keep the aspect (rake) closer to stock, using 265's in front may be a better choice or even better, run 315's in the rear which are identically matched in diameter change from stock as the 275's will be.

Thanks. I've thought all that through. There are no 315/35's. In fact, it is my hope that they come out with them as I expect my rear tires to wear faster than my fronts.

Actually, the new OEM Porsche tire is a 315/30, but I believe it's a Pirelli and the tread design doesn't look worth a crap. Plus, IMO, the 30 series would be too low profile for a Vette. You made a good choice Jim.
