Ok. I just bought some Kooks 1 7/8" headers with catted (gutted) x-pipe. I assume I am going to have to remove the AIR stuff. Will I still be able to pass emissions in MO? All they do here is make sure you have cats and plug in a OBDII plug to check for CEL's and what not. I plan on getting a tune right afterwards. Can I make it so those CEL's wont appear with the tune?
I assume he is asking about the CEL's he will get from not hooking up the A.I.R. and for not having rear O2's. I believe you can delete the CEL reporting for codes, however I don't know if a drive cycle will complete for the readiness tests if those codes are set to not report. I see how to do it in EFILive, I've never set any codes, except misfire, to 'Not Reported'. Hopefully someone can confirm this.
I don't have the headers on the car as of now. But I want to know what kinds of codes I'm going to get and if I'll be able to get rid of them by disabling the AIR system and if I'll be able to pass emissions without having this system if I have a tune.
I just bought kooks long tube race headers. They are not on the car but I am curious as to what will happen with not running the air tubes and only the O2 sensors. I'm listening.
Installed a set of headers today (not kooks) without the air fitting and so far no codes. Had the O2 sensors, and the cats were gutted. the fella that had this set up before me said he had no probs passing inspections
You leave the plugs in place for a possible visual inspection but your tuner will have to to eliminate the codes so the computer doesn't keep lighting up the check engine light and your car passas emissions. Easy fix if the tuner eliminates the codes.
In the mean time, you can use your onboard diagnostic check and turn the annoying light off until you go back.
