Unless the stock one is broken, don't. One of the biggest wastes of money. The computer will relean the "performance gain" you will get more air flow, that is about it.
For the cost of the MAF, get a dyno tune, well worth the money than an MAF. IMHO
Only if you're running 600+ RWHP should you even think about it. Some FI applications may need one. If you're at this point, talk to your tuner about which one you'll need.
depends on your stock MAF. I had the stock older style one with METAL housing. I got an aftermarket composite housing with no honey comb and wider opening, better aerodynamics. Cost with shipping about um 25 to 30 bucks?
Took apart the stock one, updated the housing (the metal on the orig also acts as a heat sink robbing HP) and walla. INSTANT feel in the throttle response. Temps ran about 1 degree lower.
If you have a metal MAF housing, change it before you do a dyno tune! While your there get a new Cold Air / Ram air intake.

I'm curious how much the metal housing affects the intake. I recently swapped mine out for one and i can't remember if it was before or after the tune.
