Door ajar error message on dash
I have a 99 coupe and the door ajar message apears on the console display when the car is running or when the key is in. Also the interior lights remain on and I can't arm the alarm when shutting off the car and exiting. I have pulled the courtesy light fuse so my battery won't go dead when the car is parked.

According to my 2000 manual, the door ajar switch is part of the door latch. It opens/closes a circuit using a gray/black wire going to the body control module. The switch is closed with door ajar so an open in the circuit should not lead to the door ajar message. Either the switch is broken (in the closed position) or there is a short to ground in the gry/blk circuit or there is a problem in the BCM.
