I have read every thread I could find on painting calipers and replacing rotors. I'm going to have my calipers powder coated and I'm looking for any information on how to deal with the brake lines after removing them from the calipers. I also read where someone mentioned the ABS would need to be cycled after putting it all back together, any info on this? Thanks
I, personally, think it is foolish to reuse the original crush washers. Why not just order a set from Gene Culley for a few cents and have the peace of mind that your washers will fully seal the line/caliper connection? That's just me, though.
Plug the hoses if possible to keep the brake fluid level from dropping below the Master Cylinder reservoir. If you let the brake fluid level drop below the Master Cylinder you risk getting air into the ABS system which means that you will need to bleed it by taking the car to a shop that has a Tech 2. As for the crush washers I don't want to take business away from Gene but they are very easily obtained from a local auto parts store when you need them. It would cost more to mail them than they are worth.

Wow, I couldn't find these washers to save my life! I checked the auto parts stores and GM dealers and no one could get those for me. Gene was the only person who could help me out.
