Default C6 shifter install in a C5

Hi All,

I just got my 2008 C6Z06 shifter assembly and wanted to install it on a 2002 C5Z06. Should I install the entire shifter assembly (big block held in with the TORX screws) or just the shifter (piece that is held with the 4 3/8" screws)?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You need to do the whole assembly. It should come that way. You should have to remove three torx screws, and lift out. Search for patches thread on this which has pics. I replaced mine back in July! Great feel. I also did the Antivenom mod to the trans which makes it feel less notchy as well. Enjoy! Don

I did the whole box -- simplest way to do it; no need to open/expose the internals.

The whole shifter. I did mine a few weeks ago. Great mod.

One more vote for swapping the unit as an assembly.

Do the whole box. Stock C5 comes with rubber isolators to torque tube. The C6 Z06 are solid. Much more positive.

Whole unit - it drops right in. Why mess with it?

Yes you have to replace the hole unit. Not just the handle.

Nice improvement over the C5 shifter.
It gets better with use, might seem tight at first.
Also installed the complete assembly.

Go over to C6 forum and sniff around. I bought one over there about a year and a half ago from a guy who installed an aftermarket shifter. Got the shifter AND **** for $100. It's a good swap.
