Broken shifter bolt
TIA
If you buy a hard store bolt, it will not have an integrated washer under the head, so you might consider a thin flat washer (not a lock washer).
If it were me, I'd replace all four bolts with grade 8, which is way overkill for the small amount of torque required. I used grade 8 with the B&M "Sport" shifter I recently installed. I've never broken a grade 8 bolt in any application. It's just my preference.
Grade 5 is silver color and grade 8 is a gold color. Grade 5 should be more than adequate in most non critical applications such as the shifter mechanism.
Use LOCTITE (blue) on the threads and torque to 8-10 ft lbs. If you don't have a torque wrench and/or can't borrow one, tighten snugly and allow the LOCTITE to cure before use.
I don't understand how so many people break off their bolts unless they're really standing on the wrench.
Read this thoroughly, it might help...

I broke one of the rubber insulated ones that connect to the tube last time.
It is not from over torque I think one worked loose and it snapped. I noticed my shifter was a little sloppy and I found a broken bolt.
Im a little rough on things.
Thanks
