Whats the milage these should be changed at and , whats the best upgraded brand??? These shocks are diffenet than the non adjustable suspension shocks , correct
Yes, they are different. Change them when you feel they are too soft. Depending on what you want to do with your car, Koni FSD's are great, HAL's are good as well, and bilsteins if your on a budget. But if you want superior I'd go with pfadt's coil overs. Its your choice.

Are you talking about the F55 suspension shocks? Three ride settings available from a switch on the console.
As far as I know, the factory shocks are the only direct replacement for F55 shocks and they're very expensive. To replace them with upgraded shocks you need to either plug in little electronic shock simulators on the end of each shock wire or have the feature tuned out to keep from getting codes. You'll be better off (spend less money) in the long run to replace them with upgraded shocks of your choice and have the feature tuned out.
For 2001 the system is the F45 Real Time Dampening. It was replaced in 2004 with the F55 system.
Your options are the following:
1. Replace the F45 shocks with new F45 shocks. They are $450-500 each.
2. Upgrade to the F55 Magnetic Ride system. $2000+
3. Upgrade to any other shock package that doesn't use the F45 system. Requires either a computer reprogram or the use of sims to trick the computer into thinking the system is working. Cost is variable depending upon what shocks you choose.
4. Find so low milage take offs from someone that did option 2 or 3.
I did option 4 back in 2004 and found some low milage F45 shocks here on the forum. When these go out I will be switching to option 3 and going to a coilover setup.
