Default Hurst Shift **** Interchange?

My C5 came with a Hurst shifter. I'm not crazy about the large ****. Is it interchangable with stock shift ***** or aftermarket ***** that fit a stock shifter? I don't have the stock shifter to compare it too.
Thanks.

The oem C5/Z06 shifter and most after market shifters are threaded for 9/16-18 SAE threads. You can buy any **** you want and use it as long as the threads are 9/16-18. The HURST shifter will accept the oem C5/Z06 leather **** and the "demon key" if you elect to use that.
Now, if you decide you want the ever popular ergonomic leather C6/Z06 ****, you might have a problem. They do not come standard with internal 9/16-18 threads. They are secured to the side of the lever with one small fastener. If your shifter doesn't have the threaded hole in the side of the lever, then you could drill/tap for the fastener, allowing you to use the C6/Z06 ****.
What is the current **** that you have? Images? Someone might be interested in buying/trading you for something you'd like more...

Hotwheels is correct. Try not to get a universal **** that uses thin inserts, as they tend to break easily.

BTW, if you get a bit tired of pulling the Hurst out of gear, you can always add a washer or two to the ball plunger fitting in the tranny case. I added two 20mm ID copper washers (.1-inch total thickness) and my BPP shifter is much easier to put in and pull out of gear. It is now as easy to shift as a C6 Z06 shifter, but with a much shorter throw - excellent mod!

Thanks for the tip, Dave. I did see that in my searches and will do the mod.

Hotwheels, here is a photo of my current **** and a link to what I thinking about getting.

That's the popular HURST **** that you have now. I have the same **** in my car.
The DELRIN **** is also very popular...I think it comes in a short and tall version. It should be a direct thread on for your shifter.

Thanks Hotwheels. I'll order it tomorrow.

Where are you in AZ? I'm headed to Carefree on Sunday to see my folks for Christmas.

Post #2 should pretty well explain the possibilities..."...as long as the threads are 9/16-18" ...both the original poster and myself both have HURST ***** on ours. I had the same HURST **** on my oem C5/Z06 shifter as well.
Maybe, you could make a deal with the original poster for his HURST ****?

the Hurst t handle looks great
and has made my shifts feel smoother
I just retapped the t handle and put a lock nut under it
I mean a Hurst shifter just screams for a t handle

I actually have a couple T handles laying around and like them but I think they're a bit too "retro" for a C5.

I drove the car this morning again and am starting to get used to the "big ball". I was going to order the other shift **** today but now I'm thinking I'll leave it as it is for a while and see. If I do switch out I'll put the big ball in the parts section.

Thanks everyone.

Anyone know if the smaller diameter Hurst ball has the same thread sizes?

The HURST website is probably the best source of information...
