You can also reach up with your foot and push the clutch pedal switch button when turning over/starting instead of the clutch pedal. It will turn over the drivetrain, but keep the load off the thrust bearing.
In the product discription it says "not recommended as an oil additive"
DH
I think that relates to the reason they are taking zinc out of motor oils. It is fabulous for preventing piston scuffing and general wear but it has long term effects on catalytic converters, thus the EPA is pressuring.
Take it from a guy who had a catastrophic (not catalytic) stroker startup, screw the cats!
I have learned that Red Line, Royal Purple, and Mobile One don't have any.
Red Line has lots... Patman on LS1tech (widely regarded as the oil expert) recommended it to me when I asked him about an oil with a high zinc and moly content.

is Patman that guy that does oil analysis professionally?

what did he say about royal purple?
Yep, thats him. I think Patman hates Royal Purple more than anyone on the planet. He does independent testing, there was a thing a 2 or 3 years ago where he did all these tests and posted his results, basically showing royal purple to be garbage (MOTOR OIL, NOT TRANS OR REAR END FLUID) and RP got wind of his testing, tried to bribe him or make him take his results down and it turned into a giant fiasco. Between Patman's and TLewis's (RevXtreme) experiences, I wouldn't use royal purple in my lawn mower. Red Line is stupid expensive (It's 9 bucks a quart). I'm putting on a big oil cooler and 2 remote mount filters and increasing my capacity to 10 quarts over the winter, but I don't care. I have WAY to much time and money invested into this car to use anything but the best. And if that means an oil change costs me $100, then so be it. I've got well over $20K in mods to my car (none of that is labor as I do everything myself, so its in all parts) and I'm ridiculously **** about what goes into it.

What Red Line product is that? The breakdown I saw was for 5W-30. I know Patman is the expert. I guess you can't believe everything you read.
I'll try to locate it. I use 5W-30 btw, but that was in my 'old' 346. I'm going with Rotella T for the break-in on my 403.

That MSDS is for all of their motor oils, they contain the same amount of zinc didingalingadingdong whatever regardless of weight. I broke my stroker in on Rotella T 15w40, and at the 5K mark switched to 10w40 redline per Patmans suggestion. I also run the Wix 51042 filter. Livernois Motorsports (Site sponsor) carries it, I'm close enough I can just go in and pick it up when I need it. They stock that Wix filter too, but I discovered the local parts store is cheaper for the filter

yeah rotella t seems to be the ticket for break in. My diesel sure loves it! i may switch to Rotella synthetic...the numbers look pretty darn good and the price-performance to the dollar cost is very good at Walmart!
In the Z Currently
running that new 15/50 heavy duty stuff Mobil One just came out with ( more ZDDP) .
anyone have any numbers on that yet?

i do luv Syncromax But I do think the Moly settles too fast in the motor oil
