Fastest 0 to 60 Car?

Fastest 0 to 60 Car?
I am having an argument with a buddy...
I say that the ViperVenom TT 's 2.4 is the fastest....
He says its a Ford Boss Mustang at 1.9sec... but I think he is mistaken and the 1.9 is the 60ft time?
Do you guys know?

It all depends on the qualifications. The "fastest car" thing can turn into a pile of BS so fast you won't know what happened, if you don't set down the rules.
If we are saying "fastest 0-60 ever, all cars included" it'd have to be a top fueler, or...if you count someting on rails, one of those rocket sleds
If you say fastes "street legal" car, then you're probably going to be looking at some obscure pre-emmissions supercharged big block or hemi hot rod that weighs 1500 lbs has 1000 hp, and wouldn't be allowed to race at a track, but manages to pass inspection to drive on the street
If you say fastest "tuner car" then perhaps that Hennesey viper, although I think Lingenfelter's new 427 TT will probably beat it.
If you say fastest production car, then I think it's probably the McLaren, or some other super-exotic.
So you should define the argument at the beginning.
Oh, and that 1.9 for the rustang is definitely wrong.

I'd like a little more information than a page with typos on it :).
I can build a nice page that says my Corvette does 0-60 in -4 seconds by traveling through time, but that doesn't make it true.

That doesn't look right to me. 0-100 in 5.5, but does the 1/4 mile in 10.5 at 135 mph?? So it took a full five seconds to go from 100 to 135? Could be, but something doesn't sound right to me.

The 1.9 0 to 60 is a fact! Car & Driver tested it a while back!!!! I have the issue here somewhere.....
I'll have to find it and post the date so all you Mustang haters can track it down and read it and weep......

So the Boss Mustang goes 10.5 in the quarter, the TT Viper goes 10.11, and the 427 LPE TT goes 9.52.
Why the discussion about 0-60?... Seems pretty clear what the quickest car of the three is.
At that level 0-60 is all about traction, traction, traction.

My best 60 ft time to date is 1.38.
Take a look at this calculator...

According to this I am going 59.29 MPH at the 60 ft mark. So, if I can go 59.29 MPH in 1.38 seconds I would calculate that it takes me about 1.396 seonds to reach 60 mph.:)

That new Bugatti W16 is going to be a real contender. 1001hp, AWD quad turbo. Definately somewhere in the 2 second range. They say it'll do 0-186mph in 14 seconds! :eek: Although it's geared for top speed, 252mph, so the 0-60mph may not be as quick as the Viper or Boss Mustang. :confused: It is a 7-speed paddle shift though! :D
