A few months back the vette would not start. I tried a new battery and bypassing the clutch safety switch. I had it towed to the dealer, they claimed the purple wire going to the starter was loose or cut.
Two weeks after that, the same no start condition happened. Had it towed to the dealer, when they got it, they said it started fine. Took it home, and it started every time for 2 months straight.
A few days ago, it would not start again. I tried it again a few hours later, and it started. I then tried to start it the next day and it would not start. I wiggled the key around holding it in the start position and it started up. Went to leave work and it would not start again. I tried wiggling the key and starting it over a 20 minute period. Had a friend help me push start it and it fired right up. Drove it to the dealer, shut if off, and it had no problem starting. It is sitting at the dealer now and they are trying to recreate the condition.
The only codes I have are an HVAC code and steering sensor code. It is a '98, and I have a CLB installed. Could the CLB be going bad? I saw a pull key wait 10 seconds message once on the DIC when it would not start.
Here is what I have done thus far:
- new battery
- shorted clutch safety switch
- checked wires to starter
- checked battery cables
- checked fuses
- when the no-start condition occurs, I can hear the relay in the BCM when I turn the key to start, and another relay as I push the clutch in.
I have the same problem. I hear the clicking at the BCM. It hasnt stranded me yet, but it is fustrating. Mine started to act up after I had my clutch replaced. Do a search of my name, because about 2-3 weeks ago, I was in two good fix it threads.
I used to think that it only did it when it was hot outside. It did it on 3 of my 6 starts today.
I had the same problem with an intermitent no crank/start. It was the ignition switch in mine. It would do the same thing, took several tries at the shop to find it because it would only act up once in a while, then when I would go away for a while and come back, it would fire right up. Had no pattern to it at all. Might want to try that.
