Default Ported fast 90 vs.Port Matched LS6 intake

If anyone can help please...Will I see a difference with a ported fast intake and tb? Or is it not worth the money?? I would like to have Tony Mano do it for me.

If you match the Ported Fast 90/90 combo with some AFR205s and appropriate cam, you will see a big difference.

if your not changing the heads and cam there will be some change, but not too much.

I have RGR Stage 1 LS6/243's heads,SI007 cam( speed incs 007 cam), and I have a Port Matched LS6 intake. I am thinking of going with th fast set up and looking to see if I would get any gains.

You've probably been following these related FAST discussions. This is sure a popular topic lately (one member is suspiciously absent from this discussion)...

The stronger the cylinder head and supporting cast of mods the better the results from the swap due to the fact the stock intake (even port matched) starts to represent a significant restriction in the flow of air thru the engine (the old adage about an internal combustion engine being essentially an airpump is very true). An untouched or even medicore ported stock head will not be as handicapped by the stock LS6 manifold as a high flowing 300+ CFM cylinder head would be. The better flowing head needs a better flowing manifold in front of it to see the full benefit of its design (higher flow) net to your combustion chamber and ultimately to your rear wheels.

Flow a factory head with an LS6 intake bolted to it (versus just a radius plate) and watch 25 CFM's disappear.....Now flow a higher flowing AFR 205 with the same LS6 intake and watch 50 CFM disappear (half the gains you just paid for). No bolt a properly ported FAST to the same 205 and you will only see a 28 CFM loss....far better than the 50 you lost with the factory intake. The better the head the better the intake needs to be to keep up with it....

That said even a so-so combo would see 15-20 with the addition of an optimized (ported) 90/90 set-up.....a combo with a set of AFR's or other premium head would see 20-25 additional RWHP and there are a select few that have even gained more than that from the swap (low 20's being more commonplace).

Smooth Blue, without knowing how good your heads and the rest of your combination really is, I would go into this looking for the 15-20 I originally mentioned (you wouldn't be mad at me if you picked up 22 RWHP....LOL). The increase in throttle response and overall SOTP would also be very welcomed and is almost worth the porice of admision in and of itself (speak to others how have made the swap).

You wouldnt be disappointed....if your ultimately looking to get the most from your combination its basically a no brainer. Look what every other high horsepower car is running....yes its grey, and yes its expensive, but if you want to run with the big dogs, well you know the rest.

BTW, with all the recent FAST interest it would seem I have a vested interest in the product. While I should be on Comp's payroll for all the support I have given there product, I am not compensated in any form or fashion to do so. Sure I make a few bucks extra on the side with the porting to help support my own speed addiction but I could charge the same money to port ANY intake I so desired. I recommend and port the FAST because IMO, right now its the best game in town. Trust me when something better finally comes to the market I will probably be one of the first guys to jump ship and try it. If it does deliver the goods then that will be the intake you see on my personal vehicle, and that will be the intake I recommend and support my habit by porting (assuming it required extra work to be optimized).

Have a good Holiday everyone!
