Default MGW Shifter

Just tried out the new MGW shifter in my 2000 C5 coupe. I had a Kirban and had seen some good comments from the C6 guys about the MGW shifters. It is great, shorter throw than the Kirban and precise shifts. Takes a little more effort than the Kirban, but looking at the way it is built it looks bullet proof.

I got this shifter as a christmas gift (thanks Dixz) and I love it. I replaced my Hurst with it and find the gear selection to be smoother with less effort. I also love the MGW shift **** that I got with the shifter. It is a great combination and it is in my car to stay.

Just for the record I have driven cars with the Hurst, B&M and Kirban so far and the MGW just feels better to me.

Went for two long drives today and my wife even noticed that it was much more quiet in the car. She hated the rattle that the Hurst made when she drove it. I just turn up the music. The MGW is silent in my car. Keeping my fingers crossed that it stays this way.

Keith, thanks again for letting me drive your car. I like the MGW shifter! It is quieter than my Hurst, it is smoother, and I didn't notice the "click, click", also I heard no buzz when I got on it!

And, by the way, you were right about going into reverse took much less effort!

For those of you who still have a Hurst, Ripper, or BPP shifter and think it is a bit tough to shift out of gear:

I added two .05-inch thick copper washers to the detent plunger fitting in the tranny case and wow, what a difference! Shifting is still super-short (BPP shifter), but getting into and out of gear is MUCH easier. Vibration is toned down as well. This is a great alternative to buying a new shifter, IMO.

I have the B&M ripper and I love the thing, the more I drive the car the most used to it I get and the faster I can shift it, I love the stiff feel its great. The only thing is sometimes she fights me to go into 3rd but I have been getting better at it.
