You can go the the Corvette Musuem website, and order not only the original window sticker, but also the build sheet for your car. That is what I did, to find out my 99 A4 came wiht the options 3.15 differential.

It is stamped on a plate under the car near the diff oil plug--also sometimes it is written in chalk on the diff cover---most any place has stall converters--A popular brand is Yank or Vigilante--Those are high end brands and run around $800---I've seen them as cheap as $200--mine is from Phoenix Transmissions--Was $385--kinda middle of the road- works great - with warranty--
