Stupid Headlight Problem (It's winking at me!)

Ok, so the other day I went to my car, fired it up, turned the lights on, and the drivers side didn't come up. Great. Not this again. Happened before and I had to replace the gear with one of those heavy metal ones.

Whatever, no big deal, lights off and lights on usually fixes it.

Turn the lights off, the passenger side goes down, and up pops the drivers side. What the hell? Turn the lights back on, up comed the passenger side, down goes the drivers side. This is awesome!

I tried tricking it. Turn the lights off, unplug the drivers side harness, turn the lights on and plug it back in. Success! Both lights up... until I turn them off, then the drivers side stays up.

I've tried raising/lowering it completely using the manual over ride, but it still goes back up or down when I turn the lights back off or on.

I got tired of fiddling with it so I just unplugged it and keep it in the down position, but that sucks.

Anyone have any ideas?
