Default Verify spring part number (vs. stamped number)

I ordered and received C5ZO6 springs and I'm currently installing the rear spring.
Now that I have my stock base suspension spring out of the car, I can compare it, side-by-side, to the used ZO6 spring that I ordered.

The curvature is identical, which is not what I expected given the installation instructions on LS1howto.com.

- Both springs have the same engraved part number (22146484) on them.
My base spring still has a bar code sticker with the part number (22179019) printed on it, which matches the expected part number for the rear base spring.
- The used ZO6 spring has lost its sticker and thus can't be verified.

Can anyone verify that the engraved number on the ZO6 spring is the same engraved number as the base spring?

THANKS!!

I just installed Z06 springs in my Vette today. The curve of the Z06 spring was much flatter. The rear was a much bigger difference. Have fun installing the front.

I'm not looking forward to that as much since the rear was pretty easy yet it still took me a while.

Can someone with a ZO6 spring read the number that is engraved on it?

THANKS!!

To do the front. You need to remove the sway bar completely. Disconnect the tie rods on both sides. And disconnect the lower ball joint on both sides. Spring will now slide out.
To install it’s a bit harder. Once you get the spring back in place put the bottom holder on the side you have seated. This will keep the spring from moving while you get is set in the other side.
We did this on a lift and using two dead men to help jack the spring and ball joint in place.
I’ll be back at the shop where my Vette is tomorrow. I will see if I can get you the part number. I have the number from the base springs if that will help.

Not sure if this is the part number that is stamped on the spring. This is from Gene Culley's web site.

Z06 front suspension spring – 15233396 – $464.63
Z06 rear suspension spring – 22188038 – $464.63

Yes, that does help! Unfortunately it doesn't match the number I'm showing. Makes me nervous that somehow I, or the person before me, ended up with the wrong spring.

I'll check your front spring number against my front spring.

THANKS!!

Thanks!
Did you get a chance to look at the engraved number on the rear spring?

Mine are 2004 springs so maybe they are different.

Just found out that the engraved numbers are 'casting' numbers.

Anywho, my new front spring's casting number is 22146483 I-2.

Anyone else? Preferrably with an '04 ZO6?

REAR ZO6 SPRING?

FRONT ZO6 SPRING?

Okay, now I'm really nervous. I just replaced the front FE1 spring and it has the same casting number as the front ZO6 spring (see picture). What gives!? It was a near religous experience trying to wrestle the new spring into place and bolt everything back up. I'm going to be ticked to discover this is just another FE1 spring that I just installed on my car.

Can anyone else help clarify? No one else seems to have my same casting numbers.

I think you got hosed! I did Z06 springs and bars on my '97 and the springs were VERY noticibly different. The bars were too, fwiw.

sorry!
