Sorry if this is redundant for some of you, but I was curious if most ls6 intakes, or replicas are the same. Im a ford guy in transistion right now... I know that a lot of the ebay PI plastic intakes(ford 4.6) are of poor quality and not exactly to ford specs. Does the same hold true for the ls6 intakes found on ebay? Also, does anybody have an aftermarket aluminum ls6 intake, and what is the weight difference vs. the stock ls6 intake? Thanks in advance

There are no replicas, per se. If you see an LS6 intake on eBay, it is a GM part. The plastic intakes on these cars are way too expensive to make, to try and replicate. There are plastic aftermarket intakes, but they cost substantially more than an LS6 intake. You don't want an aluminum intake, way too many fit issues and heat soak issues. The LS6 intake is a great intake straight from the factory. It even flows better than the LS2 intake. If you want more flow, you can have one of the forum vendors port an LS6 intake for you. If you have head, cam, headers, etc., and really need to flow some air, get a FAST intake (which can also be ported if necessary). Here is a pic of the best way to tell an LS6 intake from an LS1 intake. The LS6 intake is on the right. Notice it is flat on the bottom, whereas the LS1 is curved with the hump down the middle.

thanks for the reply. That clarified it for me. I actually installed an ls6 intake on my buddies ls1 many, many years ago back in high school. Our torque wrench was busted and I overtorqued his intake, breaking the back bolt off under the winshield. It was a mess.....
Ive never heard of porting a plastic intake manifold? Is there extra material throughout the intake, or does it need to be smoothed up?
I just installed mine yesterday and its obvious how much better the lS6 intake is. A good piece of advise for you is cars under 500HP Ls6 gets the job done..cars over 500HP FAST LSX is the way to go. I chose the ls6 cause its half the price and my car even when finished will only be making 450 at the flywheel at most so you have to consider the future mods on your car as well.
