What do you think the max amount of weights should be on 1 wheel. I had my run flats remounted on new Fact. Repro. chrome C6 wheels today. One wheel seems to have alot of weight on it. It took the guy several tries to get it right and in one spot there is about 4 oz's . Put another way, what is the most that should go in one spot ? I'm going to have it rechecked tomorrow by another shop.
Try moving the tire around on the rim. It might help.
I said the same thing to myself, as he was adding more weight. I was thinking in the back of my mind the following;
1) get on the machine and do it my self ( like back in the day) or
2) just take it to be checked again tomorrow.
The guy who owned the shop, who was supposed to do the service, told me that his tire machine was the newest out there and was specially ment for run flats. I come to find out this is true..... but he is waiting on a new balance machine !!!
I would rotate the tire 180 degrees. I have seen C6s that came from the factory with over 3 ounces in one spot so even the factory has the same problem. I have chrome C6 Z06 repo wheels on mine and a couple of them went over 3 ounces. I have almost no confidence in most wheel balancers either. I wish I had thought to have had my repro wheels checked for runout and run on the balancer I would bet money the repo wheels are either not true and/or out of balance from the factory. One thing I do know the GM wheel weights are a lot better then the stuff most tire stores carry but they are very costly.
