I am looking at a pair of z06 mufflers to install on my '01 coupe. They have been cut from the over axle pipes. Is there any reason why I can't do the same with my stock exhaust and either clamp or weld the z06 mufflers into place? What about the rest of the stock mounting hardware?
I am not a technican but I would recommend that if you have not purchased these that you do not do so. You can easily get a set of TI exhausts in the FS forum that have not been cut.
Of course if the pair you mention above are not going to cost you anything you can always speak with a reputable muffler repair shop as to what is possible however even with this the thing that worries me is once you cut your stock exhaust, if there are any problems you cannot easily just "remount your old stock exhaust".
The Z06 exhaust are Titanium, of course, so you can't just weld them. You'd have to come up with some sort of clamp. It sounds like someone got them taken off at a cheap muffler shop. They were just about to cut mine off when I went to Corsas...Luckily I stopped them in time. :smash:
