First cam change on C5

About to change cams on my 02 C5.I have a ? about the power steering pump.Do you have to remove the pump to change cams?
I have been gathering parts and need to know if I need a new pulley for the pump.

No you just remove the pump by unbolting it behind the pulley. No need to change anything on the pump.

The pump is bolted to the alternator bracket. You cannot get to those bolts without removing the PS pulley.

But you can remove the alt. bracket from the left head (4 bolts), and remove it all (bracket, pump, reservoir) as an assembly.

Well I am taking one out and putting one in so I am changing out cams!

If your just changing the cam the P/S pump/pully are NOT removed on a C5. The P/S lines on the rack have to be removed and if you have a cooler the return line will be removed off the pump but the pump itself stays put.
