The LS1 website has great instructions. I also used some rubber plugs that I picked up at Ace hardware to cover the connectors. The fit right over the OEM plugs. Then I used a minimal abmount of tape around them to finish them off. In all, about $3.00 for the mod.
Did you get any error codes or skip shift lite still come on afterwards?
A long as the resistor is there and the CPU sees it you shouldn't get any error codes. The CPU can't tell the resistor from the solenoid. And yes the skip shift light still comes on but is meaningless.
The resistor works great. That skip shift crap was driving me crazy. Just turn the ignition off, jack up the rear driver side of the car, put jackstand in place, crawl under and install the resistor. Also when you insert the resistor in to the wire harness plug, dont insert it where the normal prongs from the plug would go, insert the resistor ends on the other side of the metal pins. I found that if you insert it where the prongs go that the connections just werent all that tight and over time I didnt want it to lose connection and cause a code. When you pull it apart you will see what Im talking about. Anyway, after installing the resistor, I bent it over the plug and used a small tie-wrap to permenantly secure it and then wrapped it and the plug on the transmission with electrical tape to prevent dirt and water from getting inside. Then secure the wire harness to something with another tie-wrap to keep it from dangling.
