Common problem. Oil Pressure switch behind the intake manifold went south.

PIA to change, but part is cheap.

Oh my God, not again.......nooooooooooooooooooooo!

Dude, it's normal ( if that sounds right ) it has ( or will happen ) to all of us sooner or later. Just the oil pressure sensor. Very common problem on C5's. Lot's of info on the forum on this, do a search.....plenty to read.

You should not be driving your vette in Illinois now anyway.....

Eric,
Read the "sticky" up at the top of the C5 Tech page. It is titled "Oil sender relocation" or something like that. It's long but worth it. You'll get the whole picture.
Mine went out about a week ago on my 2001.
I'm converting to the brass Buick sender and going through the cowl under the wipers. This will make sense after you read the sticky.

Use Search. You'll be surprised how easy and helpful it can be.

Why not? It was 50 degrees down here today and it'll be 70 tomorrow. This isn't Chicago. Global warming is helping us out!

Looks like another outbreak of the dreaded sensor failure! I just posted on this for someone else today. Check out post #3 on this thread for more info on fixing this:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1905111

Also, a link to the VectorZ write up is contained within the 1st link I posted (post #3).

Yeah, it's about 45 here today. It's not the temperature, it's all the crap on the roads. Besides, the only time my baby gets wet is when I wash her.

berryj's post along with the one by Vectorz ( do a search in archives for oil pressure sensor) will give you everything you need to replace it.
The sticky previously mentioned will show you how to relocate it.

I have the made in mexico aluminum housed replacement part that most seem to hav eproblems with.

It has now been in for 13K+ miles. I paid close attention to ensuring there was not residual oil left in the electrical connector and made sure I torqued it to exactly 15 ft-lbs. (first 8 then 12, then 15)
knock on wood... it's been fine.

I have purchased most everything to do the relocate. Since I have not read this question in any of the posts I've read I will ask. How does the intake seal to the block? O-ring? Gasket? Need replaced?

Any concern of dirt under the intake getting in the intake ports? I don't have a garage to do this in so I will be doing this in a driveway...

It is sealed by 8 individual rubber rings around each intake port. As for replacing them, it was advised by a mech that I do so since these are about 8 yrs old at the time and since you're in there...
So, short answer is although you can reuse them, might be a good thing to just replace them. Go to gmpartshouse.com to order which I think they were a bit more pricey than I expected but I think about $40 I believe. As for dirt, some folks tape up each port, or just be careful. I vacuumed w/ a mini vac the edges in the valley to get some xs dirt out. Be real careful not to drop anything (like any of those little aluminum elbows etc) into the ports. It would be easy to drop something, just an fyi.
I went ahead and used some silicone sealant to seal the knock sensor rubber rings while I was in there too (see post 272 in the oil relocate thread sticky). Just an idea if u like to wash your engine. Let me know if u need any additional help!
