Don't know about Kooks, but my ARH's went in more easily than my stock manifolds came out. For the LG's I had, I needed to loosen motor mounts and move stuff around. Didn't 'pry it with a 2X4', but I did jack it up as far as I could. I heard removing the valve covers would have made things easier...
Price seems decent if they're in good shape (no smashed primaries, etc.). Do they come with an X / cats?

FYI - Before I ordered my ARH's a few days ago, I was quoted $676 by a forum vendor for new Kooks 1-3/4". Best price that I found on new kooks for 2003.

what made u go with arh over the kooks and what did u pay
what makes them any harder to install vs say LG or ARH or Ebay?
The bends of the tubes as they pass down the engine compartment. Just from what I have read here, Kooks are some of the more difficult headers to install. Im not sure to what degree.

I'm not sure about the Kooks, but I did not have to loosen motor mounts or jack the engine. I did change them on a lift though. Do a search, there should be alot of archived stuff on Kooks.
Mine were installed when the motor was out, so i can't attest for a new install, but I can say my 1 7/8's made my Borla's come to life. The car sounds rediculous...plus it goes like hell.
$550 is a great price, if they fit and they are not mangled.
Jeff, they came off of a 2002 c5 air tubes will hook up directly and should hook right up to the stock exhaust. These are a good buy I paid almost 900.00 for them. Thanks
Now I have been hearing that this is not true and that I would have to modify the intermediate pipes? Any truth to this?
He probably did pay $900 when he bought them. There are more choices now, so with more competition some prices have come down.
I don't think there are any LT headers that will bolt on without either modifying the stock H pipe or replacing it with the matching X pipe for the brand of headers being installed. You will most likely need to cut the H pipe just in front of the cats and have the mating flanges welded on the H pipe. If your unsure what needs to be done, call Kook's and ask them or check their website.
Just an FYI- I had a set of Kooks on a 97 I had a while back, I had them installed at my local speed shop and they did have to jack the motor up to get them in...I was under the impression that Kooks changed the tube design slightly on the later units they sold to make them easier to get in though...I read it here on the forum...so I can't be 100% about that information.
I can tell you this- they are some damn nice headers. I had the entire setup, high flow cats and the larger 3" X-Pipe and they are top quality parts! Just can be a PITA to get in from what I was told.
I paid $950 for the entire setup used to give you a price point...
