Default New Rule

Everybody know about this???

7. Lack of profile information

Based on the fact that a sale on the forum is a private transaction between our members, the lack of profile information on the part of the seller, will no longer cause a thread to be closed. If a member feels comfortable dealing with another, that's all that matters.

The forum does not assume any responsibility for transactions conducted on the forum, and therefore will not act the role of mediator, negotiator, or enforcer of any sale.

These are private transactions, and the forum's role is that of a facilitator to help members sell and buy items from one another.

This is fine but there needs to be a warning. We are given a lot of information by fellow forum members and most are trusting each other. The sale of items are $$$$ and these $$$$ has human nature at its worst because someone will attempt to get over by using the forum, look at the E-_ _ _ THING. Always use a credit card for payment with pay pal as the middle man, never give out your credit card information to anyone direct. If all fails save yourself a headache and use approved vendors like a GMPARTSHOUSE.COM for all things. New parts with used pricing

I always use my Chase card as the payment vehicle thru paypal, that way your c.c. company is a second line of defense. Postal money order is my second choice, monkeying with a postal money order is a federal offense. A shame that not everyone is above board as MOST of the memberrs are on here

The "new rule" has been in effect since 04-09-07. There have been many instances of apparent scams on this site, even with completed profiles. Some of the apparent scams are from (previously banned) members who simply change their user names.
It's up to the buyer/seller to use due diligence before sending funds/property. It takes at least two members to complete a scam.

We should always remind new or old members to fill out their profile, at least a little. It helps when they have an issue with their car or even in sales of parts etc.

It's true.

We found out people can put anything in there they want. Imagine that.
