Default VaraRam 2B lower section same as 1B

It was warm in NJ yesterday, so I decided to switch my 2B for my 1B. After I removed the lower section I started eyballing the 2 different 'versions'. The first thing I noticed was on the lower section. They are identical except a bit more material is removed from the new version where the scoop and ram tube are connected. I assume to give that area a bit more pliability to help it line up better up top. Not a big deal, but the part numbers are the same. I guess I could have left my old scoops and ram tubes installed. Something I would like to point out to anyone considering the change. I assume VaraRam wants you to install the new lower section so the fit will be easier up top due to the retooling done on the scoop to tube fitting.

The next thing I noticed different was there no were plugs provided for the fog lights. Since I don't have them I took the plugs from my old scoops. There are sticky backed foam pieces at the top junction where the rivets are to hold the handle in place, I assume to seal that area better.

They now provide pre-cut sticky backed foam 'gaskets' to affix to the upper ram tube opening. Again this has to be to get a better seal. This si were I used to have all kinds of problems sealing. On my car, the bottom lip of the ram air port wasright against the radiator shroud and it was almost impossible to get the bottom lip of the filter box to go under it. And even when you did get it to fit it would work it's way out to leave about a 1/8" opening. They now provide spacers to put between the scoop mounts and the mounting bosses down at the bottom to help with the final top position of the ram tube port.

The filter box is different. It has a slightly differnt shape and it has much larger lips lined with foam. This will probably give a much better seal to that area.

All in all it definitely looks like an improvement over the older version, at least in fitment. I'm definitely looking forward to a cleaner throttle blade and intake manifold.
