Default Porting an LS6 Intake Manifold

I've been sniffing around ways to tweak the performance of my normally aspirated 2002 Z06 (BBK shorty headers, K&N intake and Borla XR1 exhaust) without breaking the bank or my motor, and have resolved to mount a ported 78 mm OEM TB as my next step. It is my understanding that this will improve throttle response, if net little or no HP, especially if the throttle plate is carefully knife-edged and the shaft cut down.

I have seen several ported TBs on both eBay and this Forum, some of them bundled with what the sellers claim was ported OEM LS6 throttle bodies. My question is whether it is actually possible to effectively port the OEM LS6 intake, given its one-piece construction (as opposed to the FAST intakes), and if it can be done, what is the procedure and what is likely to be gained for the net investment of time and money.

No offense intended to the Forum members who may be attempting to sell a ported intake and TB setup, but every little bit of technical education I have wrung out of this Forum has helped save me money and angst, and made this great car one of the finest I have owned in my nearly 50 years on the road.

Thanks in advance to any and all for my next "LS Intake 101" lesson.

Send forum member xtremejimmy a PM. He used a ported LS6 manifold on his cam-only Z06 setup before going supercharged for awhile with good results. I don't remember the name of his porter offhand but the guy has done several member's intake manifolds with excellent feedback.

Hope this helps...
