I just bought a 98 pace car,, vert,, and was wondering what do you all use to wash and clean the top. This is my first vert so any information would be very helpful. Also is there anything you use (like scotch guard) to repell water.
303 Fabric Guard is the stuff they use when they manufacture the top. I think you can get it at lots of places, including boat supply. I'm pretty sure MidAmerica sells it. The also have a cleaner, but any mild detergent should work, as long as they're aren't any bad stains. When I got my '02 a few weeks ago I had it hauled to my home. It was open on the trailer, and the top (and body) had lots of bug carcasses. I used Dawn in a bucket to make a lot of foam, and used a sponge and just wetted it and used the foam to wash the bugs away. I then rinsed and chamoised it. Haven't applied any 303 yet, because water still beads up just fine. Good luck! and enjoy your new toy :D
GerryD is correct the 303 fabric guard and cleaner kit is recommended by the top manufacterer. Mid-America carries it part#106-703 for fabric at $24.99. I have the kit but have not had to use it yet on my 2000 vert., only 5000 mi. so far.

if you have an oak top be prepared for the black stains that appear at random for no reason on the sides of the top. you wash it and it looks great then over a short period of time the stains reappear. some have had their top replaced underwaranty for this problem but others like myself just live with it :smash:
oh never mind I just reread your post and noticed you have a pace car. good luck with the car and continue to read the forum for tips.

those are coming from the top material rubbing off at pinch points when the top is lowered and stored.....if you lay a towel flat over the top prior to stowing, it will help prevent those marks from occurring....
