Default trick to removing PS pump lines?

Doing Heads & Cam. Following LS1howto instructions. so far so good BUT ... What is the trick to getting the Power Steering pump lines loose from the steering box? I have tried just about everything; PB Blaster hammer (lightly) I am using an 18 mm flair nut wrench but I think it is about to round over the nut.

Any suggestions?

Last one I did on a friends the flare wrench opened and rounded the nut a little. I ended up using a vice grip type of wrench to loosen and then used the flare wrench for re-assembly. Guess someone at Bowling Green is drinking too much Geritol

Also, if you haven't figured it out yet, the nuts are easier to access from the wheel well.

I used a shorty wrench, with access through the left wheel well. Worked great. You are welcome to borrow it if it will help.

One of the flair nuts is just about shot. Flair nut wrench is about like ... well pretty useless. I havent tried through the wheel well; I will have to try that I did unbolt the pump brack and that is out of the way, but not out of the car..

I've used my Craftsman Pro flare wrench on mine three times now with no issues.... BUT, I did crack it open at about 2000 miles, new, when I added the Z51 PS Cooler, so maybe I was kinder on it when I tightened it up. Once you get it loose, an 18mm crows foot (by itself) works GREAT for spinning it out quickly.

Yeah, I had the best luck through the wheel well. Let me know if you need a hand.

I ended up using a short wrench to get it loose when I did an engine swap.

Thanks for all of the suggestions I finally got it out about 9:30 last night. I had to go ahead and pull the drivers side head and put a 3' piece of pipe on the end of the wrench to break it! Someone at Bowling Green must have had too many Wheaties
