Leaking Thermostat Housing
Anyway, anyone ever had a problem with this. I haven't had a chance to pull it off yet, but I'm a bit boggled by it. The water temp had just hit 220 when I noticed it.
btw, stock cap, so no reason anything abnormal should have been going on with high pressures etc.
in my kb kit,i had just a 160* thermostat, like no housing cover.my original was the integral cover ,stat type.
so i got a cover for a 2004(they have a seperate stat ).
ok put it all together .....nice little weep, with the cooling fans on blew dex all over the place.
so drain, take off the stat cover, clean it up,dry, put some black silcon
sealant on both sides of the rubber seal.its a pita to hold the cover against the pump and do up the bolts, due to the spring on the stat.
anyways, let it sit overnight and we are cool.
bottom line ,i dont think the gasket sits that well in the area between
the cover and the pump.seems like its vee `d and may have a small gap even when the bolts are up tight.
redo yours with a nice bit of sealant and it should be fine
