do manual transmissions break open at 129k miles and its just a coincidence that i had a transmission place replace the clutch and the slave/master cylinder, when they replaced those they did take out my transmission and they say they didn't open it up even though i told them fix my car! not fix half of it..... this is really bothering me i know it is totally off topic because this is on my 94 saturn sc2. but the real question would be... manual trans dont just break open at 129k miles they usually last a good deal of time right?

Reason: of to off 'typo'
We normally deal with only Corvettes in here and most of us know a good deal about them. A Saturn is out of our areas of expertise. However, will guess you have a tranverse mounted engine/transmission in the front of the car. I really have no idea... they would have to remove the trans to get to the clutch I would think. Teardown of the trans portion probably isn't needed but again, I have no idea...just guessing here.
Most manual trannys will last a good long while but a lot depends on how your engine/transmission is configured. Sorry, I just don't know.
i dont know what they mean they said it looks like it is flowing out at the front and might be cracked or something.. they are not giving me good information... and he said that if he opens it and thinks it is their fault then he would fix it for free but i asked him to tell me something that they could have possibly done that would be your fault besides leaving a wrench inside it... but he couldn't not tell me anything that could possibly be their fault...

JMHO but it sounds like that shop does not know what they are taking about!
I have a 1991 Saturn SL-2 200,000 miles with no problems. I did the clutch at 180,000. No leaks so far. I've had plenty of front wheel drive cars including race cars and never had a problem with the cases.
Tough question to answer without knowing how the car had been driven
129k of city driving I'd say a 94 Saturn had done pretty well -129k of freeway driving then it may go on for longer if it was well maintained. 129k miles is good in anyones book. I've seen cars in England that have been dead after 80k.
If they didn't get the input shaft into the pilot bearing correctly and they tried to pull it together with the bolts they could have broke the case. Case breakage in a manual is usually due to abuse.
