transmission whine question
Hi, I just bought an 02 z06, and it's been driving fine for the first few days. Now, in 4th, 5th, or 6th gear, under load, there is a whining sound coming from what I think is the transmission. If I take my foot off the accelerator, the whine will go away. The noise only occurs under load. I don't hear the noise when free revving the engine, nor do I hear it with the clutch pedal depressed. The transmission fluid and the differential fluid are both full. I added some of the limited slip additive to the rear end, but it didnt make a difference. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. I changed the differential and the problem was 95% eliminated. I have to take it back to the shop to see if this is normal. If it is not normal the differrial has a one year guarantee. I hope the shop honors it.
