Default Difference between C5 slave and C6 slave?

I'm putting another LS7 clutch into a C5 but client wants the the latest model year LS7 slave cyl as well, if possible. I've checked with GM, part numbers between the 04 ZO6 slave and 06 ZO6 slave are different but wanted to know if the 06 will bolt on and work fine in the C5 clutch setup? Does anyone know what the differences are between the two? Mounting holes different? hydraulic hookups oriented different? throw on the slave bearing deeper or shallower? All the LS7 clutches/flywheels Ive installed into C5s I simply utilized a new C5 slave cyl, no issues. But client really wants the LS7 slave.

Thanks in advance
Robert

I know there have been a few threads about this exact issue. the C6 version won't work because of the hydraulic connection. If you get a slave for an '04 Z06, you get the most current slave with the changes from the C6 incorporated.

Make sure you use the C5 pilot bearing or you will have real trouble.

The slave from the 2004 Z06 is the newest slave cylinder for the C5, I believe.

Tell youe client you are going to use the 04 one because its what is needed.

if they keep arguing, tell them to install it themselves if they know so much about it

On the 2004 Z06 slave/clutch actuator - I was at the Chevy dealer today asking if there is any difference between this for the 2000 C5 and the 2004 Z06. They said no - has the exact same part # . They have no idea if there is a difference. How would you order ?

That's because the latest part supercedes all previous parts. If you order a slave for an '04 Z06 you will get the latest design that mimics the C6 Z06.

I've got a C6z slave ready to install when I do my clutch this spring. I'm also going to get a C5Z slave in case I can't get this one to work. It is very different looking than the C5 one, with a much better looking TOB, and the hydraulic hookups are different. To circumvent the last problem, you also need to get a C6Z master, which has compatible line connections. Take heed, though, I don't know if you can install the entire hydraulic system from the next gen or not, until I get in there and try, so decide accordingly. If you do get it to work, post here with that info, and which steps are needed to adapt the newer hydraulic lines/slave to the C5 gen, as will I.

Sure, when I go home tonight, I'll do a photo of the C6Z slave. I don't have the C5Z slave yet, but you have the picture there anyway. I'll also photograph the master, as it's quite a bit nicer than the C5 version. BTW, do you have the PN of the '04 slave? Just want to check it against the one I have for my '02 replacement that was given to me by the parts store. Thanks, Dave.

Here's the C6Z slave.

..and here's the C6Z master....note the vent built in.

Also, the C6Z slave has insulation on the hydraulic line that's not in the picture.

I contacted GENE about this and he said the TOB and the line are on the slave, I am actually in the process of prdering one now along with a pilot bearing and new rear main seal.
