Default How can reduced engine power be turned on?

What is an easy way to cause the reduced engine power to turn on? I would like to add a switch so that it could be turned on when needed like a valet key.

bit more difficult, but I usually reflash it and set the rev limit to 2500rpms

I believe there are some guys running a custom OS that allows a switch to be installed that switches the computer to a different fuel map when activated, but this would be better asked in the scan and tune section.

Probably best answered by a real tech but I'll bet you can do it with the wire from the engine temperature sensor. I believe the car goes into reduced power when it overheats. All you need is the appropriate resistor for getting an overheated readout. But there might be a requirement for knock sensors too. That would complicate things.

I don't know which wire but you could tie it into the throttle position sensor.

When the weather breaks in May I'll tie a switch into the system and if it works I'll post how it was done, this should limit the speed to 25mph until reset.

ANY Throttle position sensor or Accelerator peddle sensor error will set it in a skinny minute!

Thanks Bill, I'll try this when it's warmer out. The accelerator pedal location makes wiring easy.

yep the TPS sensor is a PITA... lol. one of my wires had a tiny slice in it thanks to a thrown belt taking it out. never noticed and couldnt trace down why i was getting random "reduced engine power". you could have a button rigged up that interrupts the signal for a millisecond when started , that way it keeps it in reduced engine power until you shut it off and restart it. That way it is also still driveable.
