What is an easy way to cause the reduced engine power to turn on? I would like to add a switch so that it could be turned on when needed like a valet key.
I believe there are some guys running a custom OS that allows a switch to be installed that switches the computer to a different fuel map when activated, but this would be better asked in the scan and tune section.

Probably best answered by a real tech but I'll bet you can do it with the wire from the engine temperature sensor. I believe the car goes into reduced power when it overheats. All you need is the appropriate resistor for getting an overheated readout. But there might be a requirement for knock sensors too. That would complicate things.
When the weather breaks in May I'll tie a switch into the system and if it works I'll post how it was done, this should limit the speed to 25mph until reset.
Let me know how this works out for you. I have had my car jump into that mode once when I fired it up it was like a old modle T performance wise 0-30 in like 10 seconds
yep the TPS sensor is a PITA... lol. one of my wires had a tiny slice in it thanks to a thrown belt taking it out. never noticed and couldnt trace down why i was getting random "reduced engine power". you could have a button rigged up that interrupts the signal for a millisecond when started , that way it keeps it in reduced engine power until you shut it off and restart it. That way it is also still driveable.
