Hopefully before you put it away you changed the oil and filled the tank with fuel. Those are the two most important things to do when storing a car for the winter. You also never want to put it away dirty either, but that's a pretty obvious one.
Put some silicone grease on all the weather stipping, including the engine compartment. If your car is a coupe, leave the top unlatched after you apply the grease to the top seals. You might want to hang a note from the latch reminding you to button her up in the spring, so you don't join the "flying top" club..... Leave the windows down an inch before you put the cover on. Tire dressing helps, and you might want to fashion some sort of cover for the exhaust tips; I have heard of mice plugging up the system.. :yesnod: :)
I have always put some type of drying material inside, available at marine stores. Not sure how effective they are if you were to leave the windows open slightly due to air being air and moisture to get inside.
Put the first Vette on blocks the first year and never did it again after reading where someone did that and he couldn't get the car out when the garage caught on fire. Stated if it would have left the tires on could have pushed it out. If the weather is decent, I fire the car up, let the engine run for a bit and drive up and down the driveway to move the fluids around the transmission and rear-end
