In my experience, the tire plugs work REALLY well. I plugged the tire on my street-bike with the T-Handle kind (like you get from a gas station). As long as you push it in far enough, it won't come out. I had the plug in the street bike until the tire wore out. I forget it was there, hard acceleration, wheelies, and runs up to 160mph with no problems. Plus since you're plugging a run-flat it's that much safer. I wouldn't even worry about it.

I've been riding motorcycles for 27 years...everything from dirt bikes to my current Heritage Softail Classic. I have plugged motorcycle tires in the past to avoid being stranded, but I also replace the tire at the first opportunity.

What you just stated about plugging motorcycle tires isn't irresponsiible......is just stupid.

Guys come on this forum to learn the right way to do things. For those that are less than seasoned mechanics and drivers, the best advice is following the manufacturers recommendations regarding repairs. If you want to risk your life and property driving a plugged tire to 160 mph, I say more power to you, just don't profess your willingness to take risk as some sort of wisdom.
