Ok i know this is a common setup and i have done my homework thus far. However i am in a slight bit of confusion. In November i bought a 98 coupe m6 w 33k on it. I have the blackwing, dual tip stingers, and ccw 505a 19's, that should come with a disclaimer (pissed off wife included in ccw purchase) and am crossed between LG's and Kooks LTs. I plan on using the off road X set up and would like to do my tuning/02 delete with a diablo. Does anyone run this setup? Is there any truth to the LG's needing to be dyno fine tuned, or would you just save the extra 4 hundred and buy the kooks? What kind of power are you guys putting down with these 1st step mods. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated
I saw a 37rwhp increase over my previous set up, once I added Kooks LT's and Off road x pipe, with the Blackwing intake.
Although my motor is a forged bottom end, with Cam and heads, I had shortys, a bassani x-pipe, high flow cats and the only major increase came from the LT's, eliminating the cats and changing the x-pipe.
Stock bottom end, 228/228/112 cam, BBk shorty headers, stage 1 heads, bassani x-pipe, Borla Stingers and Blackwing intake = 391 rwhp, 382 rwtq. The new set up, same heads with a little more porting, slightly bigger cam, Kooks Lt's and off road x-pipe,forged pistons and connecting rods.... dyno tuned at 428rwhp and 408rwtq. FYI
thanks for the feedback, after reading some Lg's vs. the competion threads I think im going with kooks. Looks like ill be expecting some decent #s this spring.
With any long tube headers your gonna want to get it tuned, especially since you are deleting the Cats. Your gonna want the codes turned off, and youll also need to get Cat overtemp protection turned off otherwise you will run very rich everytime it activates.
