I have a 98 C5 and the HVAC fan makes an awful noise at times. I can cycle the fan speed up to max, turn it off and the noise disappears for awhile. (A hard bump in the road and it is right back.) I have an automatic temp control.
I bought a used blower motor online from a reputable (?) dealer on the fleabay site, but I am concerned that I don't have the right items from them. (I have not pulled mine yet.)
Here is a pic of what they sent me. Can someone tell me if they did send me the right things?
I had a 98 with the same issue. I drilled a very small hole in the bottom bearing (its really a small bronze bushing) housing The place that you drill the hole is the small bump on the bottom of the motor housing. After the hole was drilled, I sprayed some airsol lubricant in the hole and never had an issue again. That motor looks like the correct one.
Here is the one out of my 2002 ZO6 A mouse decided to build a nest in it. Thats why I removed it.
FYI, the pics are accurate of a 98 Blower Motor. There were some minor differences, but the one I pulled looked close enough to the one I got in the mail.

Bill,
is there maybe a pic from the precise spot where I have to drill ? I have the same problem with a croaking blower motor.
Many thanks for sharing your great expertise and broad knowledge .
Depends on what year blower you have. Some early C5s have a small metal BUMP that covers the bearing and some look like this:
This is a 2002 blower and the bearing is open.
If you look at the pictures above you can just make out the metal bump on the bottom center of the motor. The bump houses / covers the bearing/bushing.
If it has a closed bump, just drill a very small hole in the side of the bump. The hole just needs to be big enough to insert a red tube off the WD-40 can. Be careful not to drill deep. Just go a little at a time and you will feel it break through the housing and your done. Spray in a shot of WD-40 or some spray lubricant and your all done.
If you have a later model with an open bump, just hit it with some WD-40 or lubricant.
On my 98 (closed bump) I did mine in place. It wasn't hard at all.
I have a 99 C5 with the option CJ2 with dual zone automatic HVAC system. I got an used blower motor from a friend.
It's the same like the one on the first pic in this thread with GM # 52472569 (I know there are many GM# for blower motors, but it should be the right one for my C5) and I'll prepare it for a long quiet life.
At the moment I have no possibility to take a look directly at the built-in blower motor in my Corvette but I'm curious about it .
That should be the correct motor. You should be fine! Just drill that small hole in the bump on the side of the bump and spray in some light lube oil. It has to be light because if it gets COLD lubricant too thick will cause the motor to burn out.
