I picked up a set off of the auction site (won't name it) for $99 shipped, to date (4 months of using them) I have had the lights not open twice (just turned them off and back on and they worked great) also have had 1 ocasion where the covers came up but 1 light did not come on, again I just turned them off and back on and the problem went away.

Too my knowledge all of the kits are the same no matter how much you pay for them (it even looks like they all come from the same manufacturer with just diffrent labels put on).

IMO this is the best mod you can make for lighting (for the $) on the C5 my low beams are better than my high beams (the highs reach a little further out but do not provide very much light at that distance) the lows make the ground in front of me and the back of the car in front of me look like daylight and road signs are blinding compared to the highs.

Has anyone tried to replace the high beams with these?

And if you did, how does the 3-4 second full-on time for the bulb to reach full illumination affect your driving? I can see where movin' on down the road and puttin' on the high beams and the light not to come on for a couple of seconds could set a person to eating buttonholes in the seat bottom upholstery.

I'm thinking about doing high and low, found a site that will provide both sets for $136 delivered (not a misprint - both sets). Ballasts are made in Japan. Can't tell about the bulbs. Anyone know if this is any indicator quality or lack thereof?

the on is without delay but they do take a few seconds to reach full output, then again the lowest output is about what the highs are at full brite.

Not a good choice for the Highs due to the delay

Just do the Lows and fogs

Not to mention that the lows will be so much brighter that the high beams won't be of much use. They go a little bit further but they look dim.

If you want to use HIDs in the High Beams, please do the All 4 ON Relay mod http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...4+ON+Relay+mod
so that your lows remain ON when you turn on your highs

Guys,

Read the posts........CF does NOT ALLOW EBAY LINKS

posting them can get you banned

Just do a search for HID Kit and sort by Lowest price plus shipping.......you will get more than you can imagine

Just my 2 cents, but I have looked at tons of the HID Kits on the bay and bought and installed a couple.
To me they all look pretty much the same........same size and style ballasts, same wiring, same connectors, etc.
No way would I pay one vendor $299, $199,
Maybe $99 shipped..........I got both of my kits for $70 each shipped. At that rate I can consider them disposable, like a set of OEM bulbs

Look at their feedback rating, read some of the feedback.
Look for their warranty, standard seems to be 1 yr exchange part for part.
And email them a question about the kit.........see how long it takes to get a response and how well they communicate.
Only buy from a vendor that says they can deliver them in under a week.

Just my opinion

More Than Zero

when you flip on the HID's they will flash to high brighness for a split second, then go dim again (but still about equal to the stock bulbs anyway!) then it takes 10-15 seconds before they really reach full brightness.

(the fog lights aremisaligned in this image, and my digital camera with a low quality "video mode" makes the lights look much dimmer than they really are)
